Side Winder Fiber Optic Puller
The GMP SideWinder 70605 is a trailer-mounted towing and auxiliary winch, installed on a sturdy all-steel chassis. It features torque-suspension axles, stable support legs, extendable front jockey wheels, and a tow bar with Lunette ring. This unit can be easily towed by a standard pickup truck.
The power source is a gasoline engine driving a fixed-displacement series hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump is connected to the engine via a bell housing and flexible coupling. One pump powers the hydraulic motor via a series planetary gearbox, transmitting power to the winch. The second pump drives the rope drum again via a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic tank is equipped with dual filtration protection, sight glasses, and filler/breather.
Control is operator-friendly and straightforward. A spring-centered lever controls the rotation direction of the winch, while a detent lever engages the drum drive. Control knobs limit the tension of the rope/cable using a tension indicator mounted on the panel.
The rope drum is detachable and split for easy removal of the rope. The winch can be rotated 90° by rotating the bracket from the online working position to the transverse transport position during towing. When the winch is in operation mode, the rear support legs extend from the chassis to provide greater stability.
